July 2008 - Review Part 1 Stamp Artist of the Month will be put on hold for the months of July and August. During these two months, we will revisit our Stamp Artists of the Month from September 2007 to June 2008. To reread their bios and to see their special projects, please go to the index, and select the individual you wish to learn more about. We would also like for you to take a look at what some of our SAMs have been doing since then. September 2007: Carla van der Mei

Our September SAM was Carla van der Mei. Carla believes that perhaps she likes oriental things because of the little part of Indonesian in her. Her favorite technique is stamping in black ink and coloring with water color pencils. Carla loves doing origami and teabag folding. Recently, she shared with OSA how to make or fold the umbrella used in her G for Geisha ABC swap on another group. (You must be a member of OSA to view this). Wendy Arnold was our featured SAM for October. Although Wendy has not been stamping for very long, she has been involved in art one way or another, such as a graphic designer, designing clothes for entertainers, and needlework. She is on an extended vacation in Wisconsin and hopes to return to California where she had been living for so long. Take a look at her many creations in her OSA album. You will also find many more images of her work in the swaps, MOSAS and ACE albums. November 2007: Rose Suzuki-Metzger The November OSA member highlighted was Rose Suzuki-Metzker. Rose attributes the beginning of her interest in stamping to her husband who encouraged her to get a hobby of her own so that she would have something to do during the deer and elk hunting season . Rose finds inspiration in most any place. It could be seeing others' work of art, viewing online galleries such as OSA's or simply seeing a pattern, texture, or color. Although one of Rose's favorite techniques is Suminagashi Marbling, she loves trying out new techniques. See Rose's lovely creations in her OSA album! December 2007: Doris Heisler
Doris Heisler, our December Stamp Artist of the Month, went from making chocolates, to making and teaching stamped art. Doris swore she would never get hooked on this hobby. We're glad she did! Doris advises "not to be afraid to experiment". She says mistakes oftentimes can be made into wonderful pieces of artwork. Our last member to be revisited this month is Bonnie Belk, our January SAM. Although Bonnie loves using many techniques, her favorite techniques are those that make the biggest mess. Bonnie's experience with photography has taught her many things. From this experience, she suggests for the stamper to "learn to see". See how light affects what you see. See how colors change throughout the day. OSA members (only, sorry) can view Bonnie's work in her Yahoo album. As you can see, our previous SAMs have continued to create beautiful artwork. Next month, please join us as we revisit five more SAMs.
